Volume 1 • Issue 7 • 1000e125 Biochem Anal Biochem ISSN:2161-1009 Biochem, an open access journal Electrophoresis is one of the research techniques, which has extensively been used in separation and identification of proteins/ enzymes. In majority of the biochemistry and molecular biology experiments, electrophoresis of proteins and enzymes is performed using polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (PAGE) [1,2]. In this method, sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) [SDS-PAGE] is used when we need to estimate molecular weight and purity of proteins [1-3].

Using a Temperature Gradient against the Time in Polyacrylamide Gel Electrophoresis May Eliminate the Need for Stacking Gels
Background and Objectives: Making stacking gels for polyacrylamide gels in the laboratory by conventional methods is laborious and time consuming. Considering the role of temperature in polyacrylamide gels with respect to electrical resistance and viscosity, we assumed that decreasing the temperature would cause an increase in electrical resistance and viscosity. Ultimately, a downward tempera...
متن کاملA Simpler and Faster Version of Two-Dimensional Gel Electrophoresis Using Vertical, Mini SDS-PAGE Apparatus
We have modified one of the most useful methods of protein separation; namely, two dimensional gel electrophoresis (2-DE). This modified version of 2-DE is not only simpler and easier but also faster than all the currently available methods. In this method, isoelectric focusing is carried out in the first dimension using a vertical sodium dodecyl sulfate polyacrylamide gel electrop...

متن کاملTwo–Dimensional Gel Electrophoresis of Ceolomic Fluid of Eisenia foetida Earthworm
Earthworms possess antioxidant, antibacterial, antitumor, and hemolytic properties. To recognize the molecules responsible for various biological activities of earthworm’s coelomic fluid, a detailed knowledge about its protein contents is required. The aim of this study was to characterize the proteins present within the coelomic fluid of Eisenia foetida earthworm. Polyacrylamide-gel-elec...
متن کاملModification of the silver staining technique to detect lipopolysaccharide in polyacrylamide gels.
A silver staining method used routinely for detecting bacterial lipopolysaccharide (LPS) in sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide gels (C. Tsai and E. Frasch, Anal. Biochem. 119:115-119, 1982) appeared to be inappropriate for visualizing certain LPS preparations. It did not stain S-form fractions of polyagglutinable Pseudomonas aeruginosa LPS or several partly deacylated (alkali-treated) S-form...
